Hello all! Great site! I am newly trained and working independently. I have heard rumors that I can get some great lashes overseas. Does anyone have any experiencing buying lashes over seas that you would recommend? I am most interested in purchasing the C-Curl and minx at the best price.
I receive emails practically everyday with all sorts of eyelash questions and there is one I'm asked alot by people who are interested in doing the eyelash extensions. The question is "Do I need a license to do extensions?" While every state is different as far as their laws and regulations go regarding this service most if not all states will require you to have some sort of health or beauty license. In the state of California if you do not have an esthetician or cosmetology license you can get fined or if you own a business, closed down. Also, some other things to consider.... no spa or salon will hire you without a license and no insurance company will cover you without a license and you do not want to be working near someones eyes without insurance. For those of you who are looking for an extensionist make sure to ask to see your lash tech's credentials. Before and Afters wouldn't hurt either.
For anyone who wants a complete defintion of eyelash extensions. This one is straight from Wikipedia.org
Like hair extensions, eyelash extensions are a cosmetic process whereby synthetic single fiber polyester thread like materials are applied to create a fuller, longer look.Once a product accessible only to a limited consumer, eyelash extensions have become more popular and affordable. In Asia, The United States and Australia the process has become so popular that salons are booked as much as six weeks in advance. Aiming for an authentic, natural feel, they come in various lengths, colors and thicknesses, and can be worn during sleep, showering and swimming. However, excessive exposure to oil can weaken adhesive bond. Eyelash extensions differ greatly from "fake" or "false" eyelashes in that they are applied one extension to one lash, and can last for two to six weeks. They look natural and not like strip lashes.
Before having eyelash extensions applied, make sure your eyelash extension professional is properly trained and certified. It is highly recommended that the consumer do their research and find a reputable and talented extensionist. Look for a stylist or company that requires certification based on ability and skill, rather than simply taking a class. You can find a qualified stylist who has undergone extensive training by looking under many eyelash extension companies' websites. Most salons offering lash extensions will emphasize the potential danger (such as eye injury or blindness) of applying false lashes at home. However, if done slowly and carefully, the process can be done at home for a fraction of the cost of salon application since most major drug stores and cosmetics stores sell sets of individual lashes.
Procedure
The procedure to attach the extensions is painless, and can take an average of two hours for a full set of extensions of roughly 30-80 lashes per eye. A lash extensionist carefully applies the "lash" with tweezers and a bonding agent. If properly applied with cyanoacrylate adhesive, eyelash extensions are designed to bond to one's natural eyelash. Since eyelash extensions shed just like natural lashes, wearers are advised to have them re-applied every 2-4 weeks. The average cycle of a single natural eyelash is 90 days.
I came across a website this morning that sells an eyelash extension kit for home use that instructs you on how to apply extensions to your own natural lashes. Not a good idea and a big waste of money. There is no way that anyone can apply individual eyelash extensions to their own lashes and have them look natural. The process itself is also difficult to do with your eyes open and should not even be attempted since you do not want to chance getting glue in your eyes. If you are doing the fake strip lashes or clusters you can get away with it but leave the individual extensions to the pros. especially if you want a natural, flawless look.
To grow back eyelashes, many women misguidedly consider that if they cut the tips of their eye lashes off, then there eyelashes will somehow grow longer and fuller than the earlier one. But, this is not so accurate and will not help you to get long, beautiful eyelashes.
Now eyelashes extensions are the latest trend to enhance your appearance. Our lashes have 100 day life cycle. As one falls out, another grows in its place, thus like your own lashes grow, so will the extensions. This is why it is important to attach your eyelashes extensions from a certified make up artist, so the lashes are placed correctly, avoiding damage to the natural lash. You can also find eyelash extensions in different colors which can be applied very easily. The extensions will last for several months before you will need to go back to the salon for maintenance.
To provide lustrous eyelashes, there are various eyelash growth products available on the market but among all different methods, eyelash extension is considered as one of the best product.
No matter how brittle, short, weak, thin, or sparse your eye lashes are, with eyelash extensions you can get longer, fuller, gorgeous and healthy looking eyelashes. By applying eyelash extension, you can also curl them in a style to give your eyes elegant and mesmerizing look. With these eyelash extensions, achieve your beautiful and longer eyelashes without any harsh effect on your eyes and natural eyelashes.

Because Lighttouch Laser Clinic uses a strong performance adhesive with a long lasting bond and is gentle enough to be used on the most sensitive of eyes, lash extensions comfortably last up to 2 months with a touch-up in between (usually a 3 or 4 weeks). And with proper care and touch-up maintenance, lash extensions can sometimes last beyond 2 months. With a monthly maintenance, it could last for 9 months!

Making sure that your lash pro is using the right adhesive for your eyes is important. If your eyes are more sensitive like mine you will want to stay away from an adhesive that has alot of fumes. Fortunately the fumes are temporary buttheymaystill irritate your eyes. These adhesives tend to dry alot faster and make lashes last longer but if your eyes can't tolerate it make sure to ask your expert for a non-fume glue that's formulated for sensitive eyes. This glue is typically a medical grade quality and lashes should still last 2-3 weeks between touchups. From my personal experience.
Keeping your lashes, longer and fuller, and most importantly synthetically extended;) What kind of products are youusing to clease, moisturize, and also, what kind of makeup do you use?
There are a ton of places out there offering eyelash extensions, or are they? I've had so many clients come in that have gone someplace else first and then they are desperate for me to remove the old ones and put new ones on. Sometimes I can, but sometimes there is already so much damage done to the lashes that they just have to wait for them to grow back before I can add new ones. The biggest reason for this is that applying eyelash extensions takes a ton of experience and patience. It is an extremely tedious process and so manyplaces just jump into it thinking they can offer the service tomorrow and make a buck! Usually the result I see is just really clumpy lashes with way to much glue, but on a few occasions I've even seen people come in with the individual flares that you buy at the drug store applied, and they paid a couple hundred dollars. They could have done that themselves at home for $5! Just beware that not all people who offer eyelash extensions know what they're doing. Make sure wherever you decide to gothey havetheir own pictures to show you what their work looks like, and if they are charging an amount that seems way to good to be true, it probably is. Because its such detailed work it's really a service that your technician should specialize in. It's best not to just go bargain shopping when it comes to something on your face. If you get a bad lash job it can take up to 3 months for your lashes to get back to normal. It's just not worth the risk!
Ok, I have to mention this because I hear this ALL the time from women who have had eyelash extensions done - "My natural lashes were not this short before I had the extensions put on!". Actually, yes they were. We don't really pay attention to how our natural lashes actually look. Prior to extensions we have them camoflauged with mascara orfalse lashesand spend most of our day looking this way.
Once you have lash extensions applied which are much longer and darker lashes that you wear 24/7 you forget what your natural lashes looked like. So when the extensions start shedding you are able to see your natural lashes again and because of the major difference the extensions made you think that your natural lashes really were alot longer... but they weren't. Anyhow, I just wanted to explain this incase anyone else out there was thinking the same thing and thought maybe they were the only one. Once you do start to notice a difference though it's time for a touchup!
I didn't know anything about lash conditioners until I came across LashOut. Has anyone tried this stuff yet?? I used to sell Revitalash and all those hocus pocus load of who knows what they are actually putting on their lashes, until I met LashFood, my new friend.
All my clients want more more more! So, I started selling just a few tubes here & there and what I love about it the most is how my clients can take a break from extensions and still have something to obsess out. LashFood has made refills and new sets look better. And I love my job because I can make any woman find a new hot date for herself, even if it is with her same partner.
I am now in love with this LashFood mascara I just ordered. Has anyone else tried it yet?? Everyone keeps asking, did your lashes grow? Ohh, I LOVE your mascara, where did you get it? I think you have to use the LashFood conditioner with the mascara though. If you are not a fan of Christmas shopping, I would do it online here, instead of standing IN LINE for an hour somewhere else. Right to my doorstep is how I like it.
