Wereceive many calls from people all over the country asking about eyelash extensions. Most common questions are what are semi-permanent eyelash extensions?, where in my area can i go to get lash extensions done?, how much do they cost?, how long do theeyelash extensionslast? etc… I’m going to cover some general information right now and get into more specifics later. Since this type of service is still fairly new alot of people don’t really know what to expect the first time around. I see clients almost daily and for some they are quite at ease with the application of the lash extensions where others feel a bit nervous and of course everyone feels anxious about the end result and seeing their new long beautiful lashes. I have to say that the majority of people who do have this done are very happy with the outcome. It’s impossible to look bad.. unless of course you go to someone who does not know what they are doing. One of the first things i have to say is make sure you go to someone who is certified by a reputable company. There are alot of companies out there that offer eyelash extension kits some that provide training and others that don’t. When you contact an eyelash extension specialist always ask if they are certified and thru which company, ask if the company they were certified through has a website so you can check them out, and ask how long they have been doing the lashes. Always ask for before and after photos so that you can see their work. Some may have the before and after picturesposted on their website like LASH OUT! anyhow you are spending alot of money .. which brings us to how much do a full set of eyelash extensions cost. The cost to have the first full set of eyelash extensions applied is going to vary from city to city and state to state but the average is anywhere from $150 to $450. The cost may also depend on how many lashes you are having applied. I get alot of people who think that the eyelash extensions will last a month or longer without having to come back.. this is not the case. They may last a month or longer but you will defintely have some that have fallen out. The one thing i do tell all my clients is that this type of service is maintenance. What does this mean exactly? Well, once you have your full set applied you will need to come back in for touchups every 2-3 weeks in order to keep you lashes looking fresh and full. Once again costs for touchups will vary depending on where you are. If you wait to long to have a touchup done and more then 50% of your lashes have fallen you will more then likely need to have a full set applied again. There is alot to cover and i will keep regular posts to discuss many questions I am asked. Please feel free to post any questions you want me to cover as well.
I came across a website this morning that sells an eyelash extension kit for home use that instructs you on how to apply extensions to your own natural lashes. Not a good idea and a big waste of money. There is no way that anyone can apply individual eyelash extensions to their own lashes and have them look natural. The process itself is also difficult to do with your eyes open and should not even be attempted since you do not want to chance getting glue in your eyes. If you are doing the fake strip lashes or clusters you can get away with it but leave the individual extensions to the pros. especially if you want a natural, flawless look.
The eyes are most often the first thing about a person's face that is noticed. They are the feature that can likely do more toenhance a woman's overall look. With proper application of cosmetics and by using the ideal color cosmetics that will complement one's eye color, the eyes can be made to look dramatically alluring, naturally youthful, or sultry and stunning.
With thousands of eye shadows available in every color imaginable and varied colors of eyeliners available too, many women are at times uncertain as to which color would actually best suit her individual eye color.
Just as fashion changes so do the rules and guidelines of color cosmetics. My own personal guidelines are just that, simply guidelines. If a color really strikes you as beautiful then by all means I am a believer that it can be made to work for you. This can be done through blending it with another color or by simply using it sparingly. In other words I believe that within reason, any color can work for any woman.
Now back to the general guidelines for eye shadow colors based on one's natural eye color.
Brown eyed women most often look best in coppers, bronzes, golden shades, greens - especially those that are warm and golden hued, warm colored browns, champagne, beige, emerald green, deeper shades of teal, deep forest green, olive green, and metallic shades.
Hazel eyed women most often look best in all shades of purple from deep royal shades to lighter lilic and lavender shades. Deep greens including forest green, rose, and mauve.
Blue eyed women most often look best in eye shadow shades that are gray, rose, mauve, peach, orange, purple, and bronze. If using a shade of blue eyeshadow then use the rule of opposites. For light blue eyes select a dark blue shadow or liner. For lighter blue eyes then select a lighter eyeshadow shade or liner.
Green eyes should look towards violets, purples, chestnuts, plums, forest greens, and browns. If your eyes are deeper green then go with deeper green shadows or liners. If they are lighter green then veer towards lighter green shades .
For any women interested in having lash extensions done there are a few different styles on the market that you may want to know about. The most popular has been the J Curl. A nice soft curve that can compliment any natural lash as well as the super J curl which has a more pronounced curl and has been a favorite forour clients.
Recently a new lash has made it's way onto the scene. It's the C curl and just as the name sounds so does the lash look. This style lash extension has an extreme curl and is not a style that works for just anyone. If your lashes are super straight you may not be a good candidate. Due to the extreme nature of the curl there is not much room for the extensions to adhere therefore not offering enough base support to hold the lash for a long period. An option would be for the lash professional to curl your lashes first with a heated lash curler. Clients whose natural lashes have a nice curl to them would obviously benefit more since it would follow the line of the curl alot more and offer the base support. One thing to mention is that the C Curl does have a more pronounced look where the J curl offers a more natural look. It's just deciding what look you want to achieve and this of course I would recommend discussing with your lash professional prior to the application. If you haven't tried Individual Eyelashes by Nova Lash, you are Missing A Treat!
I tried them and they are great. They look and feel Natural and they last 4-6 weeks.
I didn't even need to use mascara. I've tried others but I'm totally hooked on these.
Why not treat yourself for the holiday?!
They even come in a great new thickness (.25mm) for that extra glam.

I receive emails practically everyday with all sorts of eyelash questions and there is one I'm asked alot by people who are interested in doing the eyelash extensions. The question is "Do I need a license to do extensions?" While every state is different as far as their laws and regulations go regarding this service most if not all states will require you to have some sort of health or beauty license. In the state of California if you do not have an esthetician or cosmetology license you can get fined or if you own a business, closed down. Also, some other things to consider.... no spa or salon will hire you without a license and no insurance company will cover you without a license and you do not want to be working near someones eyes without insurance. For those of you who are looking for an extensionist make sure to ask to see your lash tech's credentials. Before and Afters wouldn't hurt either.
A new cosmetic procedure isbeing madeavailable to those who want long, full, natural lashes permanently instead of the super popular semi-permanent eyelash extensions that have just exploded this past year and are a must for most women.
The latest technique in beauty is surgicallytransplanted eyelashes where a smallincision is madeon your scalpin the back area and 30 to 40 hair follicles areremoved and sewn on one by one onto the eyelid.Since yournatural head hair grows this then means that your transplanted eyelashes will also and therefore will need regular trims otherwise you will have hair covering your eyes. Having this done may sound a little strange to some and it is definitely not for everyone. With the transplanted eyelashes you will probably need to use an eyelash curler since the transplanted eyelash will not have a natural curl to it unless of course you have naturally curly hair and then you may want to think twice about having the eyelash transplant surgery. You will also most likely need to wear mascara.
Alot of my clients like the semi-permanent extensions for these reasons - not having to deal with mascara since the black bonding agent gives the elusion of mascara and also the synthetic lash already has a natural curl to it. Both however are maintenance. Which eyelash extension technique works best for you depends on what you want your end result to be permanent or semi-permanent?
The procedure does not come cheap - cost for the eyelash transplant surgery isabout $3000/eye. Visit www.baumanmedical.com fo r more information or click here to view video.
Well, if you didn’t have a consultation for your eyelash extensions I will tell you the process. When you come to your appointment the first thing you will need to do is sign a client release form. Since the eyelash extension professional is working near your eye area they will want to make sure that you are aware of certain things that can occur even though chances are rare: eye irritation, itching, infection. The release should also state what not to do after having the eyelash extensions applied such as: no waterproof mascara, no rubbing of the eye area, no tinting or perming of the lashes and no oil based products to name a few.
The Eyelash Extension professional should also ask you if you are wearing contact lenses. Contact lenses should be removed prior to having the extensions applied incase of any glue getting into the eye - which is very rare and i haven’t heard of this happening to anyone. Therefore it is recommended that you wear your eye glasses to the appointment and wait a few hours before putting the contact lenses back in after the eyelash application. I would even wait longer so that you do not accidentally mess up your lashes even though I have had clients who have come to the appointment wearing their contacts and thankfully I did have little cups and saline solution for them to use and afterwards they did put the lenses back in with no problems.
Ok, moving on. Now that the release is signed you are ready to get started. You will be laying down on a massage table. You will be face up. Your eyelash extension professional will be sitting in a chair behind you. The first thing they will do is make sure you are not wearing any mascara. With clean lashes they will proceed. The first thing they will do is place an eye gel pad under your eyes. They will then use a surgical tape to tape down your lower lashes. The reason for using the eye gel pad is to avoid having the tape stick to your delicate under eye area. If this is done the tape will pull at your skin which can cause redness as well as promote wrinkles in that area. The lashes are taped down so that they will not stick to the upper lashes. With all this in place the eyelash extension application can begin.
Because Lighttouch Laser Clinic uses a strong performance adhesive with a long lasting bond and is gentle enough to be used on the most sensitive of eyes, lash extensions comfortably last up to 2 months with a touch-up in between (usually a 3 or 4 weeks). And with proper care and touch-up maintenance, lash extensions can sometimes last beyond 2 months. With a monthly maintenance, it could last for 9 months!

For anyone who wants a complete defintion of eyelash extensions. This one is straight from Wikipedia.org
Like hair extensions, eyelash extensions are a cosmetic process whereby synthetic single fiber polyester thread like materials are applied to create a fuller, longer look. Once a product accessible only to a limited consumer, eyelash extensions have become more popular and affordable. In Asia, The United States and Australia the process has become so popular that salons are booked as much as six weeks in advance. Aiming for an authentic, natural feel, they come in various lengths, colors and thicknesses, and can be worn during sleep, showering and swimming. However, excessive exposure to oil can weaken adhesive bond. Eyelash extensions differ greatly from "fake" or "false" eyelashes in that they are applied one extension to one lash, and can last for two to six weeks. They look natural and not like strip lashes.
Before having eyelash extensions applied, make sure your eyelash extension professional is properly trained and certified. It is highly recommended that the consumer do their research and find a reputable and talented extensionist. Look for a stylist or company that requires certification based on ability and skill, rather than simply taking a class. You can find a qualified stylist who has undergone extensive training by looking under many eyelash extension companies' websites. Most salons offering lash extensions will emphasize the potential danger (such as eye injury or blindness) of applying false lashes at home. However, if done slowly and carefully, the process can be done at home for a fraction of the cost of salon application since most major drug stores and cosmetics stores sell sets of individual lashes.
The procedure to attach the extensions is painless, and can take an average of two hours for a full set of extensions of roughly 30-80 lashes per eye. A lash extensionist carefully applies the "lash" with tweezers and a bonding agent. If properly applied with cyanoacrylate adhesive, eyelash extensions are designed to bond to one's natural eyelash. Since eyelash extensions shed just like natural lashes, wearers are advised to have them re-applied every 2-4 weeks. The average cycle of a single natural eyelash is 90 days.
Keeping your lashes, longer and fuller, and most importantly synthetically extended;) What kind of products are youusing to clease, moisturize, and also, what kind of makeup do you use?
I'd love to hear from you!
Sincerely,
Lash Society
Ok, I have to mention this because I hear this ALL the time from women who have had eyelash extensions done - "My natural lashes were not this short before I had the extensions put on!". Actually, yes they were. We don't really pay attention to how our natural lashes actually look. Prior to extensions we have them camoflauged with mascara orfalse lashesand spend most of our day looking this way.
Once you have lash extensions applied which are much longer and darker lashes that you wear 24/7 you forget what your natural lashes looked like. So when the extensions start shedding you are able to see your natural lashes again and because of the major difference the extensions made you think that your natural lashes really were alot longer... but they weren't. Anyhow, I just wanted to explain this incase anyone else out there was thinking the same thing and thought maybe they were the only one. Once you do start to notice a difference though it's time for a touchup!

However, during the first 48 hours it is not recommended to swim, spa, or steam. The adhesive needs time to cure and bond.

We all want long beautiful, thick lashes and there are a few companies out there who offer similar products that will stimulate eyelash growth. What I like about Lashfood is that they only use 100% natural ingredients and herbal extracts. I've been testing this product to introduce to my clients and I have to say it's been exactly two weeks and I can see new growth in my lashes and my brows. Best part is absolutely no irritation. Definitely a recommended buy.
