Well, if you didn’t have a consultation for your eyelash extensions I will tell you the process. When you come to your appointment the first thing you will need to do is sign a client release form. Since the eyelash extension professional is working near your eye area they will want to make sure that you are aware of certain things that can occur even though chances are rare: eye irritation, itching, infection. The release should also state what not to do after having the eyelash extensions applied such as: no waterproof mascara, no rubbing of the eye area, no tinting or perming of the lashes and no oil based products to name a few.
The Eyelash Extension professional should also ask you if you are wearing contact lenses. Contact lenses should be removed prior to having the extensions applied incase of any glue getting into the eye - which is very rare and i haven’t heard of this happening to anyone. Therefore it is recommended that you wear your eye glasses to the appointment and wait a few hours before putting the contact lenses back in after the eyelash application. I would even wait longer so that you do not accidentally mess up your lashes even though I have had clients who have come to the appointment wearing their contacts and thankfully I did have little cups and saline solution for them to use and afterwards they did put the lenses back in with no problems.
Ok, moving on. Now that the release is signed you are ready to get started. You will be laying down on a massage table. You will be face up. Your eyelash extension professional will be sitting in a chair behind you. The first thing they will do is make sure you are not wearing any mascara. With clean lashes they will proceed. The first thing they will do is place an eye gel pad under your eyes. They will then use a surgical tape to tape down your lower lashes. The reason for using the eye gel pad is to avoid having the tape stick to your delicate under eye area. If this is done the tape will pull at your skin which can cause redness as well as promote wrinkles in that area. The lashes are taped down so that they will not stick to the upper lashes. With all this in place the eyelash extension application can begin.
